Key to Prophetic Symbols

Beast
A king or kingdom (Daniel 7:17, 23).

Earth
"The dry land" (Genesis 1:10) as opposed to the "sea." In other words, that part of the world where there were not many peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. In prophecy this designates North America.

Goat
Grecia (Daniel 8:21).

Horns
Kings (Daniel 7:24).

Lion
Jeremiah 50:17 mentions two "lions," Assyria and Babylon. The lion of Daniel 7:4 has eagle's wings, which identify it as Babylon (See Ezekiel 17:3, 12).

Ram
Media and Persia (Daniel 8:20).

Sea
"The gathering together of the waters" (Genesis 1:10). In other words, that part of the world where there were many peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. In prophecy this designates the areas around the Middle East.

Waters
"Peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues" (Revelation 17:15).

Woman
A church (Ephesians 6:25; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Jeremiah 6:2).
